Privacy policy

The short version: your kitchen data never leaves your phone. Nudgey has no account system, no server of its own, and no sync. Your inventory, shopping lists, receipt photos and settings are stored in a database on your device and are not transmitted to us or to anyone else.

What Nudgey stores on your device

Everything you put into the app: items and their quantities, locations and expiry dates, shopping lists and staples, and your notification and unit preferences. This is held in a local database on the device. We cannot read it, we have no copy of it, and there is no account to attach it to.

If you back your phone up through iCloud or Android backup, that backup may include Nudgey’s data, in the same way it includes other apps’. That backup is between you and Apple or Google.

Receipt and barcode scanning

When you photograph a receipt, the text is read on the device using the operating system’s own text recognition (Apple Vision on iOS, ML Kit on Android). The photo is not uploaded, and no third-party scanning service is involved. Receipt scanning works with no network connection at all.

Scanning a barcode looks the product up in Open Food Facts, an open database. That request contains the barcode number and happens only when you explicitly tap to search. Nothing about your inventory is sent with it.

What does leave the app

Analytics

Nudgey uses PostHog to understand which parts of the app get used, hosted on PostHog’s EU infrastructure. It records anonymous product events — that a screen was opened or a feature was used — tied to a random identifier, not to you. It does not capture the contents of your inventory, screen recordings, your name, your email or your location, it does not use advertising identifiers, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe to Nudgey Premium, the purchase is made through Apple’s or Google’s payment system and the subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We never see or store your card details — the stores handle payment entirely. Nudgey only ever asks whether an active subscription exists.

Recipes

Recipe content comes from TheMealDB. Most of it is bundled inside the app; requests for additional recipes contain no information about you or your kitchen.

What Nudgey never does

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No selling or sharing of personal data.
• No tracking across other apps or websites.
• No account, so no email list, no password and nothing to be breached.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or erase personal data held about you. In Nudgey’s case there is almost nothing to exercise those rights against: your food data is on your device, and deleting the app removes it. For the anonymous analytics events, you can ask us to delete the data associated with your installation, and we will.

Nudgey is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.

This website

This site is a static page. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts — everything it needs is served from this domain.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the change will be noted in the app’s release notes.
