Terms of use

These terms cover your use of the Nudgey mobile app and this website. Using Nudgey means you accept them.

Using the app

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Nudgey on devices you own. Please don’t copy it, resell it, reverse-engineer it, or use it to break the law.

Nudgey requires no account. Your data lives on your device, which means keeping it is your responsibility: if you delete the app, reset the device, or lose the phone without a backup, the data goes with it.

Expiry dates are estimates, not food-safety advice

Nudgey tells you what you told it, and guesses the rest. It is not a food-safety authority. Expiry dates in the app come from what you entered, from a barcode lookup, or from a default suggestion based on the type of food. Any of those can be wrong.

Always use the label on the packaging, and your own judgement, to decide whether something is safe to eat. Never rely on a nudge from this app — or the absence of one — to make that decision. Nudgey is a memory aid, nothing more.

Premium subscriptions

Some features are part of a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple or Google, not by us, and are governed by that store’s terms as well as these.

• Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue them ourselves.
• Purchases do not transfer between iOS and Android. They are separate payment systems, so a subscription bought on one platform cannot be restored on the other.
• On a new device, use Restore purchases in the app to recover an existing subscription on the same store account.

Third-party content

Recipe data and images are provided by TheMealDB and remain theirs. Product information from Open Food Facts is community-contributed and offered under their licence. Neither is guaranteed to be accurate or complete, and recipes are not checked for allergens or dietary suitability — check ingredients yourself.

Availability and changes

Nudgey is provided as it is. We aim to keep it working and to keep improving it, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and features may change or be removed.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using the app — including food that spoils. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use Nudgey after a change means you accept the updated terms.
